In the novel Tangerine, the character Erik could most likely be considered a psychopath. When I was reading Tangerine, I had trouble understanding Erik's character. It didn't make sense to me that someone could do such horrible things, and not feel any responsibility to the crime they committed. Then I started researching psychopaths, and I understood Erik better. Psychopaths feel no guilt, shame or remorse for any crime they commit. They even have no conscience. As terrible as it seems, showing no guilt is what made Erik the character that he is. Without understanding a psychopath's lack of remorse, Erik is a very confusing character. So after researching a psychopath's behavior and traits, I have concluded that Erik is a psychopath.
Although the Joker is a fictional character, he is a great example of what a psychopath would be like.
